Digital Violence

Learn what it is, how to spot it, and how to stay safe — because everyone deserves a safe internet!

What is digital violence?

Digital violence (cyberbullying) is any kind of abuse, bullying, or harm that happens through the internet and digital devices.

Unlike bullying at school, digital violence doesn't stop when you go home — it can happen 24 hours a day. Any message, image, or comment that is meant to hurt someone — is digital violence.

Types of digital violence

💬

Insults and mean words

Sending hurtful, cruel, or rude messages.

👤

Fake profiles

Making a fake account using someone else's name to embarrass them.

😡

Harassment

Sending annoying messages or threats over and over.

🚪

Leaving people out

Kicking someone out of group chats or games on purpose.

📸

Sharing private stuff

Posting private photos without asking first.

🔍

Doxxing

Sharing someone's personal info publicly without their okay.

How to react if you're a victim?

1

📵 Don't reply to messages

Don't fight back with insults. Bullies want to see you upset.

2

📷 Take screenshots

Save all proof — messages, comments, pictures.

3

🚫 Block the bully

Use the block button and report the account to the app.

4

🗣️ Talk to adults

Tell a parent, teacher, or school counselor.

5

🆘 Call for help

If threats are serious, tell the police or call a helpline.

10 rules for being fair online

1

Treat others how you want to be treated

Before sending a message, ask yourself: how would you feel?

2

Don't send insults online either

What you wouldn't say to someone's face, don't write in a message.

3

Don't make fake profiles

Pretending to be someone else to trick people is wrong.

4

Don't bully even as a joke

What seems funny to you can hurt someone else.

5

Include, don't leave out

Everyone deserves to be part of the group.

6

Don't share private photos without asking

Never post someone else's photos without their okay.

7

Report violence when you see it

A bystander isn't innocent — speak up or tell adults.

8

Protect personal info

Don't post your or others' address, phone number, or school.

9

Wait before you send

If you're angry, wait a few minutes before sending a message.

10

Be a good example

Show that you're someone who spreads kindness online.
